5 Awesome Surfing Spots in Los Angeles and Ventura County
This week we'll be giving you our suggestions on places to surf in the Los Angeles and Ventura County areas, specifically the Westlake Village/Thousand Oaks area, Santa Monica Mountains and Malibu area.
All of these places are 30 minutes or less from Prospector Ranch, so when you're staying with us, the ocean is only a short drive away.

Malibu Surfrider Beach
The Malibu Lagoon is the best area to catch some sweet waves.
It’s a well-known spot of many surfing movies from the 1950's and 1960's.

Topanga Beach
It's one of the most popular surfing spots in the area.
Swimming is not recommended, as the waves break over the cobblestones and reef.

Zuma Beach
Good place to go if you want smaller crowds and more privacy.
The waves can go up to over 20 feet due to the sandbar peaks.

Leo Carrillo State Park
For beginner surfers, this is a good place to go. It's about 8 miles from Zuma beach.
A lot of families like to visit this place.

County Line Beach
This beach offers waves for all experience levels. There are gentler waves perfect for beginners, while the edges of the beach have bigger waves for the more experienced.
The beach is also pet friendly, so you can bring along your furry companion.
