Beach Day Idea: Ventura!
~ Natalia Radcliffe ~
The other day, it reached 90 degrees here in Southern California.
In November.
Can you believe that?
We like to joke that here in California we have two seasons: hot and mildly warm.
Our fall season usually consists of cool temperatures in the morning, hotter temperatures by the afternoon, and then cooler temperatures once again in the evening. Compared to the summer, the hot portion of the day doesn’t last for too long, so things cool off a little faster, thank goodness.
So, on a warm fall afternoon, what is a person to do, when they want to cuddle up in a sweater and welcome the cooler temperatures of winter just around the corner?
How about going to the beach?
When you stay with us at Prospector Ranch, we are near many beaches, all within about an hour’s drive from here.
For example, Marina Park, Pierpont Beach, and Mother’s Beach (also known as Harbor Cove) are all places to visit in Ventura. In addition, you can explore the pier that was originally constructed in 1872, with sights to see and food to eat, as well as the Ventura Harbor, with many shops, restaurants, and an arcade.
If you are in the mood for some fish and chips, we recommend Andrea’s, set right along the harbor overlooking the ocean, where seagulls are constant companions.
You could spend all day exploring the different areas of the beaches, and the amenities this area offers.
The pier not only provides stunning views and places to get something delicious to eat, it also offers additional shops, restaurants, and the Museum of Ventura County just a short walk inland in Downtown Ventura. If you stay until dusk, you might get lucky and see a beautiful sunset over the pier, the perfect ending to your beach day.
Currently, we offer a stay in a vintage 1972 Airstream, a Conestoga covered wagon, and a vintage classic old-west inspired tent. If any of these lodgings sound interesting to you, come stay with us for the weekend and experience Ventura for yourself!
