Day Trip Ideas for Your September Airbnb Stay!
~ Natalia Radcliffe ~
There is always something happening in Southern California throughout the year. Want some ideas for activities on your itinerary when you’re staying at one of our Airbnbs? We got you. September is a great time to come visit us. You still get the warmer temperatures of summer, with more opportunities to visit places with less crowds, as the school year starts.
We found a couple of festivals/events that are happening in Southern California, all an easy day trip from Prospector Ranch.
Port Of Hueneme Banana Festival
September 30, 2023
As the name suggests, the festival is bananas for bananas. Are you a fan of the fruit? Then look into this festival! In addition to being all about bananas, this event celebrates the importance of the Port Of Hueneme to Ventura County, and is a way for people to get a behind the scenes look of what goes on. Activities at the festival include port tours, a kids zone (includes bounce houses, a bungee, games reptile exhibits and banana crafts), live music, food and shopping.
There is free admission and parking.
Friday, September 15 — Sunday September 17, 2023
Want to experience a little sliver of Denmark right here in California? Then you gotta visit Solvang. It’s a small town about a 2 hour drive from Prospector Ranch. It has lots of shops and places to eat, and the architecture is reminiscent of buildings you can see in Denmark. In September, Solvang hosts Danish Days, which honors the establishment of Solvang by Danish Americans in 1911 and a celebration of Danish culture, from music and food, to drinks unique to Denmark and historical traditions remembered. Want to try axe throwing? You can check out the axe throwing arena. Want to try Aebleskiver? The delicious round Danish pastries will be in plentiful supply to taste and enjoy.
General admission is free. You do have the option of purchasing a “Dane for a Day” VIP package for two only available online. For more information on the package, check out their website.
