The Kittens of Prospector Ranch!

Back in June, our cat Cleo had kittens! It was such an awe inspiring experience to be there for their birth, seeing new life come into the world. Meggan, the owner, got to act as the “mid-wife”!

Since their birth, we’ve had two healthy babies full of energy. Recently, they’ve been allowed to explore different parts of the house other than the room where they sleep with their mom, Cleo. They’re getting old enough that they won’t quite get into as much trouble exploring as when they were still newborns.

This month, they will be three months old! They’re quickly growing up. Funny how just in the span of a few months, they change so much. We have a brother and sister duo, and they are so sweet and curious about the world around them. One sibling is more adventurous than the other, which can lead to some shenanigans. But then again, since when is taking care of babies not full of that?

Aren’t they so sweet?

Cleo is such a good mom, looking out for them and keeping them out of trouble to the best of her abilities. She holds her own against our two dogs, putting them in their place anytime they get too close to her babies.

The kittens dad, Romeo! Photo by Meggan Kimberley

The kittens get their beautiful markings from their dad, Romeo, another one of our cats. He’s a Savannah cat, which is a hybrid breed that is the result of a cross between a African serval and a domestic cat. He was a breeder cat that we rescued, but we are not really sure what happened to him. We think he didn’t get a lot of attention, because he seems pretty wild. We hope to remedy that as he gets used to us and the attention we give him.

We’re excited to see these adorable animals continue to grow and develop their unique personalities. Continue to check back in with our blog and our social media accounts to stay in the loop!
