Welcome, summer!

Here in Southern California, we are officially in an extreme heat wave at the moment. Yay! (Not.)

Looking to escape the heat? Try a weekend stay at one of our AirBnbs and take a trip to one of the many beaches near us. You can always count on more moderate temperatures the closer you get to the ocean. A lot of beaches in Southern California are dog friendly, so you can bring your canine companion along in your quest to beat the heat.

Today, we have 3 ideas for you, all less than an hour away from Prospector Ranch!

1. Harbor Cove Beach in Ventura

It’s located off of Spinnaker Dr. in Ventura. There’s free parking and admission.

Leashed dogs are welcome on the beach.

It’s known for being safe for kids. In fact, locals call it “Mother’s Beach.” So, if you’re staying at Prospector Ranch with your kids, this might be a good beach to visit.

2. Staircase Beach in Malibu

It’s located on the north end of Leo Carrillo State Park, off of the Pacific Coast Highway.

Dogs must be leashed while exploring this beach. As it’s one of the less-used beaches, chances are it will be quieter and less populated. If you’re looking for a calm, lazy summer day away from crowds, this beach is a good one to check out.

3. Surfer’s Point at Seaside Park in Ventura

This beach is located off of Shoreline Dr. A promenade and a biking trail connect this beach to the Ventura Pier.

Dogs have to be leashed while you’re exploring the area. This is a popular spot for those who want to take a nice stroll along the promenade, watching the waves rise and fall.

This space offers amenities such as picnic tables, showers, and public restrooms.
