5 Festivals Happening in the Summer Near Prospector Ranch!

Summer is here! California warm weather, here we come! 

This time of the year also heralds a lot of festivals and things to do during the warmer months. Here are 5 ideas for you! They’re all about 1-2 hours away from Prospector Ranch, a perfect day trip when staying at one of our AirBnbs.

 
 

1. Ojai Music Festival

June 8 - June 11

For music lovers, especially those who enjoy classical music, you’ll want to check this out. It’s four days filled with concerts and other music-related events.

Ticket prices vary depending on the event you want to attend. You can find the individual prices for each event on their website. 

 
 

2. Ventura County Fair

August 2 - August 13

The Ventura County Festival has a little bit of everything. Food? You got it. There’s timeless fair treats, like cotton candy, popcorn, or deep fried food, in addition to multiple other cuisine you can try. It also has those classic fair rides, like the ferris wheel and bungee jumping. But that’s not all. There’s live music, art to see and buy, horse shows, the Youth Expo, photography, and so much more. Chances are, there will be something for everyone. 

Currently, the festival is offering their limited -time early bird ticket prices at $13 for adults (13-64) and $8 for children and seniors. 

While the fair is here, there are specific days where you can get a discount on tickets.

Ventura County Credit Union Day is Monday, August 7th and members of the Ventura County Credit Union can purchase tickets at a $4 discount until 5pm. There are refunds on regular priced adult admission tickets if they are presented on this day.

Military Appreciation Day is Wednesday, August 9th and all persons with military ID are free on this day. There are no refunds on regular priced adult admission tickets if they are presented on this day.

Dollar Day is Thursday, August 10 and all adults are admitted for $1.00 per person all day. Tickets for this promotion are only available at the Fair. There are no refunds on regular priced adult admission tickets if they are presented on August 10th.

 
 

3. Oxnard Salsa Festival

July 29 - July 30

If you like all things salsa (both the food and the dance) you won’t want to miss this festival happening in July. There’s live music, food (of course) and the chance to try your hand at the ballroom dance. 

The festival is free to attend. If you want to attend the concert venue section (this includes the dance floor) it’s a $5 entrance fee. 

 
 

4.  Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach

July 7 - September 1

Want to see famous works of art come to life? Yes, we mean literally.

Hundreds of volunteers come together every year to bring well-known pieces of art to life. You get to see replicas down to the last detail, up close and in person. We challenge you to try and tell the two apart. 

The show starts at 8:30 pm and lasts for 90 minutes. Ticket prices range from $35 to $150. Purchasing a Pageant ticket also enables you to one free, unlimited admission to the outdoor fine arts exhibition known as the Festival of Arts, which runs from July 5 to September 1. 

 
 

5. Sawdust Art Festival

June 30 - September 3

If you are a fan of handmade art through various mediums, you gotta check out the Sawdust Art Festival. Each seller at the summer festival is a local, calling Laugna Beach their home. From photography, ceramics, jewelry, sculpting, painting, mixed media and more, there’s a huge variety of pieces to see and buy. 

Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for Seniors (ages 65 and up), and $5 for children (ages 6-12) Children ages 5 and have free admission and do not require a ticket to enter.
