It’s summer and you know what that means?

Va-ca-tion!!

Prospector Ranch is close to many family friendly places perfect on the itinerary for a summer vacation.

Today, we have 3 ideas for you places to visit when you come to stay at one of our AirBnb’s!

1. Santa Monica Pier

This is but a short distance from Prospector Ranch. Its iconic ferris wheel, a nod to the original amusement ride built in 1916, can be seen from a ways away, a beacon, pointing to the pier. The pier has been around since 1909, and has become a National Historic Landmark. Did you know it was originally built as a public utility? Since then, it has been created and transformed into a social gathering spot, a place to enjoy the sea air and have some fun, whether that is trying new food, fishing, or checking out its amusement park section.

2. Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard

There is a lot to do here, whether it’s just a walk around, enjoying all the senses of being at the beach, to the multitude of things to do and see. For example, there are many different types of water activities to do, such as jet skiing, kayaking and stand up paddleboard yoga. You can also navigate the sea in an electric boat rental, sport fish, or soar over the beach with a Channel Islands Parasail. There is also the Channel Islands Maritime museum. It has over five centuries of history, including art, paintings, ship models and artifacts.

3. Leonis Adobe Museum

Located in Calabasas, it’s not only a historical monument, but also a living museum that focuses on restoring, preserving and sharing 1800s California ranch life. Anything you can think of pertaining to living in the West during the late 1800s? Chances are, you’ll learn or experience an aspect of it at the museum. From learning about and meeting the kinds of animals living on an 1880s ranch, to acquiring a knowledge of the kinds of tools that were used to tend to the land and everything in between, there is a lot to explore.
