Christmas Gatherings At Prospector Ranch
Christmas can be a time to be enjoyably busy. Planning a Christmas party is one such example. Decorating a space for Christmas and preparing to welcome friends and family into your home can really help you get into the holiday spirit. Meggan and her husband Chris like to host a Christmas party every year. Prospector Ranch has some beautiful views that are the perfect backdrop to a Christmas gathering.
This year, Meggan is doing it outside down by the saloon. She's going to decorate the saloon and the big oak tree that stands in the same area in the style of a Cowboy Christmas, also known as all things cowboy and all things Christmas. She will be playing country Christmas music to really bring the theme to life, combining a lovely balance of cowboy nostalgia and Yuletide spirit.
For Meggan, Christmas has always been her favorite time of year. At her Christmas party, it's tradition to make chili. In fact, she makes different kinds of chili. Guests have the options of meat, turkey, and vegetarian to choose from. She likes her chili on the spicy side, and will sometimes add a secret ingredient (whiskey) to give the dishes a smokey flavor.
Some of Meggan’s lovely guests at her Christmas Party, including her neighbors Dr. Robert Miller, a well-known retired veterinarian, with friend and neighbor Julie Wickman (the picture on the left) and Dr. Miller’s wife Debbie (the picture on the right ).
Growing up, some of Meggan's favorite memories of Christmas were of going caroling. She grew up in a small town in Iowa, where there were a lot of farmers. She and others in her town would sit in the back of flat bed truck that was filled with straw, drink hot chocolate, and go caroling around the town. She carried this love of caroling with her into adulthood. For some of her past Christmas parties, she would have karaoke. She'd print out Christmas music and encourage her guests to sing along to beloved old and new Christmas tunes.
Christmas is a time to participate in cherished traditions and spend time with loved ones. It's a time to remember fond memories from years past and create new ones for the future. This Christmas season, we hope you enjoy your Yuletide traditions and time spent with your friends and family!
