Happy Veteran’s Day From Prospector Ranch!
~ Natalia Radcliffe ~
November 11. Veteran’s Day. It’s a time to honor all those who have served our country.
Did you know that Veteran’s Day was initially called Armistice Day? In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson named November 11 as Armistice Day, a time to commemorate the end of World War I and peace. It wasn’t until after World War II that it evolved into Veteran’s Day. It bounced around on dates, initially being celebrated on the fourth Monday of October. However, a lot of people were confused by the date, preferring the original date of November 11. In 1978, it was made official, when President Gerald Ford signed it into law, officially making November 11 Veteran’s Day.

Here at Prospector Ranch, we have respect and gratitude for our service men and women, knowing that they fight to protect our county and what it stands for. Many of our team members have family and friends who are veterans. A neighbor of ours and beloved friend, Dr. Robert Miller, is a World War II veteran, having fought on the European front. We did a blog on his experiences fighting in World War II that you can find here if you are interested in reading his story.
Prospector Ranch owner Meggan herself has had family in the military. Her father and two of her nephews served. One of our team members has a grandfather who was in the navy. He served during peacetime, and was able to travel all around Europe, seeing many sights and meeting many people. She also has a great uncle who served in the navy during the Vietnam War.
This week as Veteran’s day is on our mind, we send our prayers and thoughts to all the service men and women and their families, and hope they are living in peace and prosperity.
