Meet the Charity: Children to Love
~ Natalia Radcliffe ~
The honorary guest of our fundraiser, Children to Love, is an organization headquartered in Bakersfield, California, that helps orphaned, abandoned, and at-risk children in the name of Christ. Currently, the charity works in Romania, India, Uganda, Ukraine, and Thailand, working with partner ministries in those countries who focus on helping children in their communities.
According to the About Us page on their website, “through education, spiritual teaching, economic support, physical assistance and social intervention, Children to Love seeks to equip all children to become independent, contributing members of their communities and fully committed followers of Jesus Christ.”
Founded in 1993, story of Children to Love began in Romania when a few individuals’ eyes were opened to the bad living conditions of abandoned children in that country during the orphan crisis in the early 1990’s.
Meggan decided to support this charity because of the trust that one hundred percent of the money donated goes directly to helping people in need. Furthermore, it has a partnership with the charity Mercy Childcare in Uganda, an organization that’s near and dear to Meggan’s heart. For more information on the charity, check out our blog Giving to Others is a part of Life.
At our fundraiser, we’ll be specifically raising money for Mercy Childcare and a charity in the Ukraine, Future for Children.
Since 2017, Children to Love has partnered with Future for Children, a government approved child and family rehabilitation center based in Lviv, Ukraine. According to Children to Love’s website, “Future for Children’s focus is on the family unit and the prevention of social orphanhood, a term given to describe children who have living parents or guardians but do not receive proper care for various reasons.” The organization strives to strengthen families and provide tools to help families succeed in the world. The center offers services such as professional counseling, spiritual counseling and training, as well as parenting trainings and educational programs for children. In addition, it offers services to help provide for basic needs, including food, healthcare and education.
We’re excited to be hosting our first fundraiser. We hope you’ll come and support Children to Love and the work they do!
