Did you know that just the sounds of nature can help you relax?

Simply listening to birds merrily chirping, the wind rustling through foliage, or the steady pitter patter of rain can help decrease stress and anxiety.

According to a Smithsonian magazine article, conservation biologist Rachel Buxton published a study that stated listening to soothing natural sounds can “help lower blood pressure, improve cognitive performance, and even reduce pain.”

In other words, listening to nature can literally help your body to feel better, whether mentally or physically.

Isn’t that so interesting?

Here at Prospector Ranch, we’re far enough away from civilization that the modern sounds of today’s world are all but nil, minus the occasional cars that pass by. You can lose yourself in the symphony of nature, from hearing our two ponies and mule talking to each other, to the sounds of birds chirping in the trees and the wind blowing through the air.

As we’re close to hiking trails and the beach, you can continue to explore the wonders and sounds of nature in other environments. For many people, being near the beach can be soothing. Just the simple act of feeling the sun on your face, the sand under your feet, and the rhythmic sound of the waves can help you to have a calmer mind and feel more serene.

This April, take some time to immerse yourself in God’s wonderful creation that is the outdoors. Let yourself be soothed by the sights, sounds, and senses of nature. Your mind and body will thank you for it!
