Prospector Ranch’s 3 Tips on Sticking With Your New Year’s Resolutions
~ Natalia Radcliffe ~
Well, it’s February.
Tell us: how many of you are still keeping at it with the goals you made at the beginning of this year?
It’s natural to lose motivation and give up as time goes on. We can get caught up in the heat of the moment, and think we have all the energy and drive to meet our goals, but then as time goes on and the reality of our goals starts to settle in, our resolve can decrease more and more.
But don’t worry! We have some tips to help you continue to work towards those goals you aim to meet this year. Remember, it’s never too late!
Which leads us right into the first tip:
1. It’s never too late to get back on track.
Even if you stumble, or take a tangent down a different road, it’s never too late to find your way back to your original goal you are striving for. It is so easy to give up and say it’s too late when you deviate from your goals, but that is never true! Even if you have less time, it’s never too late to meet your goal. Because if you give up, then you are guaranteeing you will never reach it, instead of giving yourself that chance to.
2. Make it fun!
When trying to meet a goal, it’s important to make the process to reach that goal enjoyable. It will be a lot easier and more motivating to keep to that goal if it is an enjoyable path to walk along. For example, if a goal of yours is to exercise more, explore different places to take hikes or walks. Make it an adventure to explore the world and get some exercise in it too. If you are around Southern California or are visiting this area, we have many hiking trails located near us, so if you are staying with us in one of our AirBnbs, you have a variety of areas to explore and enjoy gorgeous views while you are at it. If you hate the journey that leads to the completion of the goal, you are less likely to want to reach that end of the goal. So, make it easier on yourself. Enjoy the view while you are heading toward your destination.
3. Involve other people in your journey.
Peer pressure can have a negative connotation in some scenarios in which you are trying to be persuaded to do something that will result in negative or harmful consequences, but in other situations peer pressure can be a source of inspiration or motivation. Involving other people in your journey to reach your goals can help you maintain accountability and motivation to keep going. After all, if you surround yourself with other people to cheer you on and support you in your goals, if you start to falter, you have cheerleaders wanting you to succeed, which can be the push you might need to keep going when it gets rough.
We hope these tips help you out, and inspire you to keep going, even when it may be rough. Setting goals and striving to meet said goals is an admirable pursuit. We give you a round of applause!
