Remembrance and Finding The Joys in Life

~ Natalia Radcliffe ~

December 7. The day we remember Pearl Harbor, and all who were affected by that fateful day. It was a day we should never forget. Dr. Robert Miller, our neighbor and renowned veterinarian, was only a teenager when it happened, but he still remembers that day. He remembers asking his dad where Pearl Harbor was, and the exclamation his father made when he realized the United States had been attacked.

We entered WWII after that day, changing many people’s lives. Always remember Pearl Harbor, and all that the day stands for.

December 7 is also National Joy Day. So, let’s also remember to enjoy the good things in life, no matter how small they may be.

Here at Prospector Ranch, we’ve had our highs and lows throughout this year. But we always make sure to take the time to remember the little joys that each day brings.

The joy of our mule Jorge, and his adorable friendliness. That animal doesn’t want to miss out on anything, and he will make sure you know that.

The joy of being able to hold a kitten when the mother is comfortable with you around her baby.

The joy of relaxing at our Airbnb vintage Airstream, waking up to a beautiful view of the scenery below, mug of coffee or tea in hand.

The joy of seeing our Conestoga covered wagon coming home in one piece, and seeing the progress made as we get closer and closer to finishing preparations for a new AirBnb.

The joy of wonderful neighbors, like veterinarian Dr. Robert Miller and his wife Debby.

The joy of family who are always there for us.

The joy of seeing beloved friends, whether they are local, or come from far away.

The joy of interacting with our wonderful Airbnb guests, and customers who book us as a venue.

The joy of being able to visit Uganda and volunteer with Mercy Childcare, seeing first hand the amazing work they do.

The list can go on and on. What small things in life bring you joy?

Speaking of Uganda, we have an upcoming story for you on owner Meggan and her husband’s Chris’s’ experiences on their recent trip there, so be sure to keep an eye on our blog.

As we go into the Christmas season, it can be easy to become caught up with all that you want to do and get done. But don’t forget to stop and relish the small joys in life too. Cherish your memories, good or bad, because they are all pieces of a puzzle that make up who you are.
